Wayfair - Shop All Things Home

The Wayfair app lets shoppers picture their furniture and home décor in their living rooms before they actually buy it. Wayfair offers you a virtual design experience with its ‘View in Room’ feature which lets you place virtual 3D products in your living room through your phone’s camera. The app is a great way to leverage on emerging technologies such as virtual and augmented reality in the shopping experience.

Features

The app gives you the typical features of any shopping app, with a collection of over 7 million products to choose from. You can view the product prices, delivery times and also check any special offers or discounts being offered for these products, and pay for them.

The UI display consists of a menu panel at the bottom with options for Sales, My Boards, Cart, Account and a Home button. Wayfair gives you the ability to track your packages in real time, and a map is also provided to show the position of the courier relative to your own, with the ETA displayed.

The most important feature of this app is obviously the ability to view the products that you want to order as they’d look in your living room using the Room Planner. A Wedding Registry also assists those planning for the special occasion by letting you collect all items that you need and budget for them.

Usability

The app is quite easy to use, especially the Room Planner. Payment also works quickly through mobile checkout. I didn’t suffer any glitches with this app. Some customers have however complained about repeated problems trying to place or pay for orders. Concerns have also been noted that customer service isn’t too responsive.

The app  requires iOS 9.0 or later (runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) and at least Android 4.1.

Conclusion

This app is one of the most innovative shopping apps I’ve come across. Everything I’ve bought from Wayfair has exceeded the quality expectations, definitely aided by the virtual Room Planner. Wayfair has a great collection of home goods, and you’ll never miss what you’re looking for here. Shipments also arrive really fast, so a big plus to the Wayfair team.
